Caneeka Elleanor Miller is a DONA International trained Postpartum Doula seeking certification. As a Postpartum Doula she will walk alongside families in the first 12 weeks after a birth to provide practical, informational, and emotional support.

She has a degree in Human Development with a concentration in Family Studies from the University of Alabama. The Family Studies concentration allowed her to become a Certified Family Life Educator which is the practice of equipping and empowering family members to develop knowledge and skills that enhance well-being and strengthen interpersonal relationships through an educational, preventive, and strengths-based approach. She also has completed coursework towards a Master of Jurisprudence degree in Children’s Law and Policy with Loyola University Chicago School of Law which helps nonlegal professionals better serve children and families.

After experiencing a miscarriage before having her second child, her rainbow baby, Caneeka was inspired to become a postpartum professional because she recognized the impact having hands on support after each child birth or child loss experience has on the well being of the mother and thus the family unit. Caneeka is also trained with The Institute of Birth, Breath, and Death in Holding Space for Pregnancy Loss to walk alongside families in their grief journey.

Her extensive professional experience as an early childhood educator in childcare centers, as a family resource specialist, and as a live in counselor for girls ages 13-18 — equipped with over 15 years of educational knowledge in the field of child development and family empowerment — Caneeka is able to provide families with a wide range of physical, emotional, and educational support with an open mind, loving hands, and calm presence.

Her dedication to advocacy, specifically Black maternal health through March of Dimes, equity, and access to care for all families regardless of race, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, and ethnicity will ensure that families are empowered in their journey and heard through their struggles.
