Episode 6 - The Pandemic Wall + Finding My Way Back
They say March comes in like a lion and I have yet to meet a March to which this saying didn’t apply.
A week ago I took myself to the ER for chest pain and numbness. I was convinced it was a heart attack. After running multiple tests, they came back clear and I was told it was a panic attack.
In a few days we will “celebrate” one year of quarantine due to the pandemic and this was the moment I officially hit the pandemic wall. A wall that I’ve felt closing in on me since the fall when my optimism and hope for humanity began to dwindle each day as I watched people party, argue and more recently, burn their masks in protest of their “rights.” While everyone around me decided to stop caring, I pressed in and stayed the course and remained dedicated to flattening the curve. A curve that rose to half a million deaths to which I just knew people would find a corner of empathy and decide to work together on the group project we have miserably failed.
In this episode of A Woman With A Story, I share how this experience has impacted my mental health and what these waves of anxiety have taught me about healing and finding my way back to myself.
The excerpt I read in the podcast is from the article No, I'm Not Ready. If you have found yourself excited and afraid about “the new normal,” I encourage you to read it in its entirety and know that you aren’t alone.
I hope you guys enjoy and I pray love, light and peace over you and your families in this season. We are doing the best we can with what we have and our best is more than enough.
