At my grandmothers house. Plant goals. The one in the middle came from my great grandmothers plant.

I have transitioned into the part of the quarantine where we begin to order plants. I’ve had an African Violet since 2014. It was a gift I received while pregnant with Cole from a sorority sister who was retiring. I never knew I could love and treasure something like a plant the way I have with my violet. The women in my family have always had house plants so I’ve always wanted them but I was afraid that I would kill them. I told myself in 2020 I would get some plants for the house and learn how to care for them. So here we are with plant number one a peperomia tricolor. Since my boys are into Pokemon we decided to name her Venusaur. I saw a post on Black Girls With Gardens instagram page where they mentioned their experience with Jordan’s Jungle and in this time where small businesses are needing our support I thought this would be a great time to get my plant AND support other small businesses. My husband owns a small business and I witness first hand how this quarantine has made an impact and caused small businesses to pivot during this time.

Because I have asthma I researched last year what type of plants are great for people with asthma. Plants that clear the air and help the quality of the home and the peperomia is one of those plants. Jordan’s Jungle is a great business to purchase a plant from because they provide a ton of information on their website about the plant before you purchase it, they answer questions you might have and they send a personalized thank you note when you purchase. In addition, they send directions on how to take care of the plant. Things I didn’t know like don’t switch the pot for 30 days because it has to get acclaimated to its new environment. And considering they are located in Rhode Island and I am in Alabama, I was happy to have that piece of information especially as a plant newbie. My cousin has also ordered from them and had a great experience as well. If you think you might be entering this next stage of the quarantine check out Jordan’s Jungle.

Also as I’m shopping for things that make me happy and support businesses I love, I purchased this super cute halo headband is from Ashley Ryles (@arryles on instagram). She has an array of headbands (and masks) in such cute styles I will definitely purchase more especially since my hair is going through some things. In the meantime I can support small businesses and look cute!

I hope you guys are finding things that bring you joy in a time when everything feels like it’s falling to pieces. Especially if you read the news. This year is flying by (it’s already May) and this is how I’m making the most of this time in isolation.
